Centre Clothes Corner
Centre Clothes Corner is the Volunteer League's largest ongoing project since 1973 providing basic clothing assistance to underserved and in-crisis school age children. Our goal is to make a difference in children's lives by providing them with the school clothing needs to be able to attend school with confidence and thrive!
The Volunteer League is currently the only non-profit that provides clothing assistance to LAUSD students from K-12, free of charge. Children are referred to us by public school counselors, social services counselors and mental health agencies in the San Fernando Valley and the greater Los Angeles area. Donation bags are carefully packaged by our volunteers based on the sizing forms provided by the counselors. Counselors and parents collects donation bags weekly at our location. This process has proven to be more efficient in getting donations to students in need effectively without missing school for fittings.
In the school year of 2023-2024, Centre Clothes Corner clothed 3,400 students. We provide each child with school clothing including uniforms, jacket, shoes, socks, underwear, personal care items and a back pack with school supplies. Now more than ever, our assistance is crucial to many public schools because there are not enough resources like us providing emergency clothing assistance to many families experiencing financial hardship and homelessness.
The Volunteer League is funded in this project by private companies, foundations and individuals. We do not receive any United Way or local government assistance.,
We are grateful to all our donors for making it possible for us to continue for so many years.
TOGETHER, we can Make a Difference!
